Catchment Area

Before filling out a registration form, check you are in our catchment area by using the map and postcode checker opposite. We serve most of Weymouth but are unable to include Chickerell and the more distant parts of Wyke Regis and Lanehouse and parts of Preston which can be covered by more local practices.

Find out which GPs you can register with on the NHS website.

Registering with the surgery

We are using a new online service called Register with a GP Surgery that makes it easier to register with The Bridges Medical Practice.

You do not need proof of address or immigration status, or an NHS number.

The service is designed and run by the NHS, so your personal information is safe.  It cuts our administrative workload and makes it easier for you to register.

Paper forms to register with the surgery are still available if you need one.

All new patients can request a health check with a member of the healthcare team to ensure that any required tests are up to date and that we have an accurate note of any repeat medication you may be taking.

Contact Numbers

Please ensure we have your current home, work and/or mobile telephone number in case we need to contact you.

Temporary Registrations

If you are ill while away from home but need to see a clinician, you can receive emergency one-off treatment from a practice or for up to 3 months as a temporary patient. After 3 months you will need to register as a permanent patient if you are still away from home.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. You need to be staying in their catchment but cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

Accountable GP

From 1st April 2015, practices are required to allocate all patients (including children) with a named accountable GP.

Patients do not need to see their named GP when they book an appointment with the practice.  However, we encourage patients to see their named GP as often as possible to help continuity.

If you wish to change your named GP please discuss with Reception.
