Baby Immunisations

We strongly recommend that babies and children are immunised to protect against severe diseases such as Whooping Cough and Measles.  You will be sent a letter from the Child Health Immunisations Service advising you when to make an appointment for your baby or child.  Please contact us to make an appointment at The Bridges Medical Centre or The Littlemoor Surgery.

Please bring your red book to each appointment.

 

 

 

Pregnancy Immunisations

It is recommended pregnant women are vaccinated against Whooping Cough at week 20 of pregnancy and RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) from week 28.  This is to protect your baby during the first few weeks after they are born.  

Pregnant women are also eligible to recieve Flu and Covid vaccinations.

Shingles Immunisations

Who is eligible for the vaccination?

People who turned 65 on or after 1st September 2023.

People aged 70-79 who have not been vaccinated.

People aged 50 and over with a severely weakened immune system.

Flu

 Who is at risk?

  • If you are aged 65 years or over or if you are on regular inhaled steroids
  • If you have a chronic respiratory disease (including asthma)
  • If you have chronic heart disease
  • If you have chronic renal disease
  • If you are diabetic
  • If you have a weak immune system
  • If you live in a long-stay residential or nursing home
  • If you have a chronic liver disease
  • If you are severely obese
  • If you are a carer

The flu vaccination is available for all those over 65 and patients in the at risk groups. Children between the ages of 2 - 3 years of age and children with certain long-term health conditions.  Most children who are eligible for flu vaccine can can have the nasal spray.

IMMUNISATION

Do I Need To Be Protected Against Pneumococcal Infection?

Everybody aged 65 and over should now be immunised to help protect them against pneumococcal infection which can cause diseases such as pneumonia, septicaemia (blood poisoning) and meningitis. Please phone the surgery during September to make an appointment if the above applies to you.
